Our Town Auditions


The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will be accepting submissions from Equity, Non-Equity, and Student Apprentice actors (age 10+) for their upcoming production of Our Town.

The production runs February 4-6 at THE BLACK BOX in Franklin, MA. Performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, as well as performers with disabilities, are strongly encouraged to submit. Actors must be fully vaccinated (2 weeks out from second shot) by the start date.

BREAKDOWN

STAGE MANAGER (any gender; any age 18+) The narrator; this character exists both within the narrative of Grover's Corners and outside of it, commenting on the action, directing the actors, and even taking on small roles. The Stage Manager is kindly and sincere, earnest in their love for Grover's Corners and genuine in their appreciation of its ordinariness. This character is the connection between the audience and the people of Grover’s Corners.

EMILY WEBB (character is female-identifying, to play 17-23) A self-assured and intelligent young person. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to pursue her desires,modest though they are, befitting of the early 1900s. She grows up next door to George, and eventually they marry.

GEORGE GIBBS (character is male-identifying, age 17-25) A popular teenager and athlete, earnest and energetic. He grows up next door to Emily, his long-time crush who becomes his wife in Act 2.

DR. GIBBS (character is male identifying, 40s-60s) The main doctor for Grover's Corners, a very hard worker, dedicated to his profession and to the people of his community.

MRS. GIBBS (character is female-identifying, 40s-60s) Worrying and affectionate, Mrs. Gibbs dotes on her husband and children. She is imaginative and has a youthful quality of dreaming big dreams.

MRS. WEBB  (character is female-identifying, 40s-60s) Sensible and serious, Mrs. Webb is Emily and Wally's mother and wife to Mr. Webb. A hardworking, dedicated and caring mother, wife and community member.

MR. WEBB (character is male-identifying, 40s-60s) The editor of the Grover's Corners Sentinel and Emily and Wally's father. A pillar of the community.

WALLY WEBB (character is male-identifying, age 10-14) Emily's little brother

REBECCA GIBBS (character is female-identifying, age 10-14) George's younger sister, four years his junior. She is fanciful and wondering.

JOE CROWELL (character is male-identifying, age 12+) The paperboy.

HOWIE NEWSOME (any gender; any age 18+) The milkman who guides a seventeen-year-old horse named Bessie.

PROFESSOR WILLARD (any gender; any age 18+) A faculty member of State University who recites facts about Grover's Corners.

ENSEMBLE/FEATURED ROLES (age 10+)
