Drowsy Chaperone Auditions


The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will be accepting submissions from Equity, Non-Equity, and Student Apprentice (age 16+) actors for their upcoming production of The Drowsy Chaperone.

The production runs March 12-20 at THE BLACK BOX in Franklin, MA. Performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, as well as performers with disabilities, are encouraged to submit. Actors must be fully vaccinated (2 weeks out from second shot) by the start date.

BREAKDOWN

Man In Chair (30s-50s): Musical theatre aficionado who mourns the end of the Golden Era. He narrates the show as he listens to the record on vinyl. Male-identifying. Role has been cast. Seeking understudies and potential replacements.

Mrs. Tottendale (50s-60s): The air-headed, proper, and bossy host of the wedding. Female-identifying. Vocal Range: G3-Db5

Underling (30s-50s): Mrs. Tottendale's savvy butler who is thrifty and stiff yet has an understated sense of humor. Male-identifying. Vocal Range: Ab2-G4.

Robert Martin (20s-30s): The dashing, ever-cheerful groom; played by matinee-idol Percy Hyman. Male-identifying. Vocal Range: C3-Ab4.

George (20s-40s): Robert's anxious, dim-witted best man who has Robert's best-interest always at heart. Male-identifying. Vocal Range: F3-Bb4.

Feldzieg (30s-50s): Broadway producer who is desperate for his star to return to his show; played by Jack Adler. Male-identifying. Vocal Range: Db3-Db4

Kitty (20s-30s): Feldzieg's dim-witted companion who has hopes of being a star; played by Sadie Adler. Female-identifying. Vocal Range Bb3-F5. Gender: Female

Gangsters (20s-40s): Posing as pastry chefs, this duo is intending to collect from Feldzieg; played by the vaudeville duo Tall Brothers. Male-identifying. Vocal Range: Db3-Gb4.

Aldolpho (30s-50s): European self-proclaimed "ladies man"; played by former silent movie star Roman Bartelli. Male-identifying. Vocal Range: A#2-G4. Role has been cast. Seeking understudies and potential replacements.

Janet Van De Graaf (20s-30s): The famous bride. Glamorous and talented star of Feldzieg's Follies; played by rising star Jane Roberts. Female-identifying. Vocal Range: G3-F#5. Role has been cast. Seeking understudies and potential replacements.

The Drowsy Chaperone (30s-50s): Janet's alcoholic confidante and friend; played by well-established stage actress Beatrice Stockwell. Female-identifying. Vocal Range: F3-D5 Role has been cast. Seeking understudies and potential replacements.

Trix (30s-40s):  The brave and brash female aviator who, by chance, is recruited to perform the wedding. Female-identifying. Vocal Range: Ab3-Eb5.

Ensemble: To play staff, reporters, etc.
