The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will be accepting submissions from Equity, Non-Equity, local, and apprentice actors for their upcoming production of The Sound of Music. The production runs October 14-23, 2022 at THE BLACK BOX in Franklin, MA. Performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, as well as performers with disabilities, are encouraged to submit. Actors must be fully vaccinated (2 weeks out from second shot) by the start date.

[MARIA]– female, early 20s – early 30s; filled with self-doubt, yet spirited, caring, and committed. Chest mix with strong head voice; PRINCIPAL.

[CAPTAIN VON TRAPP]– male, late 30s to 50; commanding presence – retired naval officer and proud Austrian; some guitar ability a plus. Baritone; PRINCIPAL.

[MOTHER ABBESS]– female, mid 40s – 50, Wise, kind and strong. Powerful Mezzo (B to A-flat); PRINCIPAL.

[ELSA SCHRADER]– female, mid 30s – early 40s wealthy, sophisticated, charming. Legit-Mezzo range (A to E below high C); PRINCIPAL.

[MAX DETWEILLER]– male, 40s – 50s; witty and rascally impresario. Strong character with a good sense of comedy, Baritone; PRINCIPAL

[LIESL VON TRAPP]– female; to play 16; girl on the verge of womanhood. Chest mix with a head voice (low G to F#); moves well. PRINCIPAL. 

[FRIEDRICH VON TRAPP] – 13 to 14 years old, male, all ethnicities. Strong singer/actor who moves well. Unchanged voice.

[[LOUISA VON TRAPP]– 12 to 13 years old, female, all ethnicities. Strong singer/actor who moves well.

[KURT VON TRAPP] – 10 to 11 years old, male, all ethnicities. Strong singer/actor who moves well. Unchanged voice.

[BRIGITTA VON TRAPP] – 9 to 10 years old, female, all ethnicities. Strong singer/actor who moves well.

[MARTA VON TRAPP] – 7 to 8 years old, female, all ethnicities. Strong singer/actor who moves well.

[GRETL VON TRAPP] – 5 to 6 years old, female, all ethnicities. Strong singer/actor who moves well.

[ROLF GRUBER] male; to play 17; epitome of clean cut, athletic German youth. Lyric Baritone moves well. PRINCIPAL.

[FRANZ]– male, mid 30s to 50s; Distant and efficient butler; PRINCIPAL.

[FRAU SCHMIDT]– female, mid 30s to 50s; Efficient yet caring housekeeper, Legit voice. PRINCIPAL.

[HERR ZELLER]– male, late 20s – 40s; A staunch Nazi sympathizer and eventually a leader in the Nazi regime. PRINCIPAL.

[ENSEMBLE]- Nuns, featured nuns, partygoers, etc.
