Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) is excited to announce auditions for CABARET on Monday, April 29 at 7 pm at THE BLACK BOX.

Please prepare 16 bars in the style of the show. The production runs June 14 and 15 at THE BLACK BOX. Age: 16+

Show Description: 
In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920’s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the CABARET. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, CABARET explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. Musical numbers include “Willkommen,” “Cabaret,” “Don’t Tell Mama” and “Two Ladies.”

EMCEE: Vocal Range- Tenor. The host at the Kit Kat Klub, presented as a gender-questionable character comfortable with being close to both men and women. Comedic and loveable. Requires agile stage movement and dance. Age range and appearance flexible. Speaks with a German Accent.

 

SALLY BOWLES: *Role has been CAST* A British Cabaret singer at the Kit Kat Klub. Vocal Range: Soprano/Strong Belt. A quirky character that comes across as flighty, yet at times struggles with knowing the darkness of the reality of her life as a cabaret performer. Comfortable with stage movement and light dance. Age Range: 20s to 30s. Speaks with a British Accent.

 

CLIFFORD BRADSHAW:  An American novelist and English teacher traveling to Berlin. Vocal Range: Tenor

Presented as a closeted gay man exploring his sexuality.

Comfortable with stage movement and light dance. Age range: Late 20s to Mid 30s. Speaks with an American accent.

 

FRAULEIN SCHNEIDER: A landlady who rents rooms in her large flat. Vocal Range: Alto. Age Range: to play 50+. Speaks with a German accent.

 

HERR SCHULTZ: One of Fraulein Schneider’s tenants and the proprietor of a Fruit Shop. Vocal Range: Tenor. Age Range: to play 50+. Speaks with a German accent.

 

FRAULEIN KOST: Another of Fraulein Schneider’s tenants. Vocal Range: Alto/Mezzo

She earns money by offering favours to sailors. Age Range: to play 20s to 30s. Speaks with a German accent.

 

ERNST LUDWIG: A friendly and likeable German. No solo singing. Takes English lessons from Cliff and smuggles funds for the Nazi Party. Age Range: flexible. Speaks with a German accent.

 

KIT KAT GIRLS: Kit Kat Club Performers and various features. Seeking strong Singers in all voice parts.

The individuals will also be part of various scenes as performers and as club patrons. Excellent dancers.

To play 20s to early 30s.
