The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will be accepting submissions from Equity, Non-Equity, and student apprentice actors age 15+ for their upcoming productions of The Wolves. Performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, as well as performers with disabilities, are encouraged to submit. Actors must be fully vaccinated (2 weeks out from second shot) by the start date.

Please prepare a brief contemporary monologue or you may prepare the monologue provided. Submissions due by October 4.

 (Non Equity and Student Apprentices: please note that callbacks will be held in November. The callback will include sides and a soccer/movement portion).

Student Content Warning: We will be accepting audition submissions from student apprentices ages 15+ to play characters ages 16 and 17. This Pulitzer Prize finalist for drama features mature themes and adult language including characters in honest discussions about sex, politics, abortion, eating disorders, and death. By electronically signing the form, you acknowledge that the student apprentice auditioning and the apprentice’s guardian are aware of the content in The Wolves.

 

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Note: This production will require athletic ability from the actors cast as the team. While not required, actors who have athletic/soccer experience should note this in their submission. Actors cast as the team, will participate in a soccer boot camp.

#11 Midfield. Brainy, morbid, budding elitist, thoughtful. Seventeen.

#25 Defense, Captain. Classic (ex)coach’s daughter. Seventeen.

#13 Midfield. Stoner, older pot dealer brother, into her wackiness. Sixteen.

#46 Bench. New girl. Awkward, different, just wants to fit in. Sixteen. Actor must juggle a soccer ball for approx. one minute (or perform a similarly impressive soccer skill) during the show.

#2 Defense. Innocent, unlucky, kind, skinny. Sixteen.

#7 Striker. Too cool for school. Sarcastic, “f**k”, thick eyeliner. Almost seventeen.

#14 Midfield. #7’s insecure sidekick. Just switched to contacts. Sixteen.

#8 Defense. Plays dumber than she is. Sixteen.

#00 Goalie. Intense performance anxiety, perfectionist, high achiever. Seventeen.

SOCCER MOM late 30s-40s warm, generous, suburban mom who prides herself on her involvement in her kid’s lives; she never misses a game; she played soccer in her youth and has coached a few youth teams; she is grappling with the process of grieving her daughter; she would rather console her daughter’s teammates than admit her tragedy; she is spinning fast to avoid thinking about her unthinkable loss; manic with grief; verbal dexterity is essential; no soccer experience necessary.
